Greetings Grewenow Families!
I am excited and honored to be a part of the Grewenow Elementary School community. A history of high quality educational programming runs deep at Grewenow, and each day, I look forward to collaborating with staff, families, and the community in our continued efforts to empower Grewenow’s students to be independent, responsible, lifelong learners who thrive in a safe, nurturing, and culturally diverse neighborhood school environment.
As principal, I understand that great families make great schools, and it is important to continue the tradition of family involvement in education at Grewenow. Parents are their child’s first teacher, and when they support and partner with their child(ren)’s school teachers, I believe the overall success and achievement of Grewenow’s students will know no bounds. I promise to always seek out ways to serve this school and create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment that helps students build on their knowledge and skills so they can adapt to the quickly changing world around them. I care deeply about the well-being of every student and will do whatever it takes to provide Grewenow’s staff the opportunities they need to have a significant and meaningful impact on your child’s education.
As educators, we are charged with a tall task each time we begin a new school year. Teachers and students must build new relationships and make connections from previous year’s learning. As students grow in a new classroom environment, we want them to not only become better thinkers, but also more understanding, compassionate, and helpful towards others. In knowing this, I wholeheartedly agree with Dr. Martin Luther King who says that the true goal of education is to combine intelligence with character. Together, we will accomplish this goal with every one of our students and continue to make Grewenow Elementary School great!
On a personal note, this year marks my 12th year in education. Prior to assuming the principal position at Grewenow, I served as the Director of Student Services in the Randall Consolidated School District for two years where many of my duties were consistent with those of an assistant principal. Before becoming a school administrator, I taught vocal, general, and instrumental music in the Walworth J1 and Williams Bay School Districts. This unique background has allowed me to work with students in every grade level, preK-12, and gain a variety of experiences leading, learning from, and collaborating with other educators.
I currently live in the city of Elkhorn with my beautiful wife of 11 years, Elaine. We have two daughters, Heidi (age 3) and Autumn (age 1), whose cleverness and wit always keep us on our toes. Their zest for learning also inspire me to be a better educator, leader, and dad(!) every day. It may also be relevant to know that I love ice cream, reading, being outdoors, working with my hands, and am a huge Wisconsin sports fan (Brewers, Badgers, Packers and Bucks).
