Tell me and I may forget.
Show me and I may remember.
Involve me and I will understand.
Hello! My name is Elizabeth Nelsen. This will be my 17th year at Grewenow as a Kindergarten Teacher. I have the greatest job there is. One of the reasons I love to teach Kindergarten is because I get to spend my days with happy, curious, and creative five and six year olds.
I was born in Watertown, South Dakota. When I was young my family moved to Rapid City, SD. I was raised in the Black Hills and that is where my love for the outdoors began. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Idaho. I received my Masters Degree in Incorporating the Arts into the Curriculum and Instruction through Lesley University. My husband, Jim and I have three children. We have a daughter who teaches in Denver, CO and a son who works up in the Rookies of Colorado. Our youngest daughter is in college at the University of Whitewater. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, family, and our friendly black lab, Duke. We love to do outdoor activities like boating, hiking, fishing, camping, biking, and skiing.
My classroom is a friendly, safe, and engaging place to be. My goal is to make my students excited about learning by embracing and encouraging their own innate sense of creativity, enthusiasm and wonder. I want my students experience in Kindergarten to be one they look back on with fond memories for years to come.
