My name is Melissa Zgorzelski and I have been a Special Education teacher for the past 22 years. I taught at Washington Middle School for 16 years with students with varying disabilities, and I have taught at Grewenow for the past 6 years in almost all grade levels. I am passionate about being an advocate for the students I teach and helping them become independent, successful learners. I received my Bachelors of Science Degree in Education from UW-Milwaukee and my Master’s of Special Education from UW-Milwaukee as well. I often times refer to my students as “my kids” because they become more to me than students. I treat them as I would my own and take ownership in their learning success.
Personally, I have been married for 20 years to my husband, Jeff, who is Post-Master at the Pleasant Prairie Post Office. I have two children: Ethan (16) who is a Junior at Tremper High School and Vivien (13) who is in 8th grade at Lance Middle School. They keep me busy with all their activities and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
